Das in der Schweiz ans\u00e4ssige Unternehmen Vestergaard stellt die preisgekr\u00f6nten Wasserfilter und -reiniger \u201eLifeStraw\u201c her. Seit dem erstmalig im Jahre 2005 in Form eines Strohhalms vorgestellten LifeStraw-Filter gibt es mittlerweile eine ganze Produktpalette an fortschrittlichen Filterl\u00f6sungen f\u00fcr alle Bed\u00fcrfnisse \u2013 vom LifeStraw Personal, einem stromlosen Strohhalm, mit dem man theoretisch direkt aus jeder Pf\u00fctze trinken k\u00f6nnte, bis hin zur nachf\u00fcllbaren LifeStraw Go Wasserflasche aber auch LifeStraw Mission, einem System, das bis zu 18.000 Liter Wasser reinigen kann. Hierbei werden 99% aller Wasser verunreinigenden Bakterien, auch E.coli-Bakterien, Salmonellen sowie Protozoen Parasiten, Giardia und Viren entfernt, was sogar besser ist als der Trinkwasserstandard der US-amerikanischen Umweltschutzbeh\u00f6rde \u201eEnvironmental Protection Agency\u201c. Mit der \u201eLifeStraw \u2013 Follow the Litres\u201c-Kampagne versorgt LifeStraw Kinder in Entwicklungsl\u00e4ndern mit sauberem, sicherem Trinkwasser.<\/p>\n

Ziel der \u201eLifeStraw \u2013 Follow the Litres\u201c-Kampagne ist es, Schulkindern in Entwicklungsl\u00e4ndern auf Dauer Zugang zu sauberem Trinkwasser zu verschaffen. Und so funktioniert die Kampagne: F\u00fcr jeden Kauf eines LifeStraw-Produkts innerhalb von Europa oder Nordamerika erh\u00e4lt ein Schulkind in einem afrikanischen Dorf sicheres Trinkwasser \u00fcber die Dauer eines ganzen Schuljahrs. Wie wird das m\u00f6glich gemacht? Ein Teil des Erl\u00f6ses aus dem Verkauf von LifeStraw-Produkten an den Endverbraucher wird daf\u00fcr verwendet, gro\u00dfe LifeStraw Wasserfilteranlagen zu kaufen und an Schulen in Kenia zu verteilen. So wird verhindert, dass Kinder und ihre Familien sich schwere Krankheiten, wie Typhus und Cholera, einfangen, die durch verunreinigtes Trinkwasser verbreitet werden. Auch die Schulbildung wird dadurch verbessert, da die Kinder wesentlich weniger oft aufgrund von Krankheiten dem Unterricht fernbleiben m\u00fcssen.<\/p>\n

Das erste gro\u00dfe \u201eLifeStraw \u2013 Follow the Litres\u201c-Projekt wurde 2014 in West-Kenia in die Tat umgesetzt. Seitdem wurden in den letzten zwei Jahren in Kenia hunderte Schulen in vier l\u00e4ndlichen Gebieten mit sicherem Trinkwasser versorgt. Um es genau zu sagen: 361.000 Sch\u00fcler in diesen Gemeinden haben heute dauerhaft Zugang zu sicherem Trinkwasser!<\/p>\n
