Thanks for helping me understand that there would be a need for hand scrubbing if we have heavier blankets before they are sent through the washer. I will keep that in mind if I ever get waterproof blankets like those once I join a horse lifestyle subscription box. It's because I will be joining one next year since I plan on getting my own horse now that I live in a bigger area.

I love Rug Wash and Rug Proof! It has been the best, I always took them to be drycleaned but I love this product too much. The waterproofing is amazing. Thanks so much!

In reply to Penny Coventry.

Hey Penny,

You're best off using Rug Wash and Rug Proof, for horse blankets and sheets. However, if you're going to use Tech Wash and TX, the best application method is using a commercial-size laundry machine, large enough to fit the horse sheets comfortably. Using a machine eliminates any user error, and ensures that you won't "miss a spot." However, submerging the sheets into a deluded TX solution in a large bucket can work too. The directions for hand application are on the bottles. Hope that helps! - Brennon

I have Tekwash and TXdirect. I am washing two horse sheets to rewateroof. What is the best way to use the TX? I heard letting them soak in it. How long do I do this? I will hang to dry.

Hey Sandie! Yes, you can sponge on Rug Proof. You can learn how to do it HERE; underneath the "Use Nikwax Rug Proof in the washing machine" heading, you'll see another sub-heading called "Apply Nikwax Rug Proof by hand." Hope that helps! - Brennon

I have already had my horse blankets washed professionally but they no longer offer the water proofing. I have read reviews that Nixwax can be sponged on to the blanket. Is this correct. I would prefer to do this.
Thanks

Hey Melody! I assume you're referencing Rug Wash and Rug Proof, for washing and waterproofing horse blankets? Waterproofing is best done immediately following cleaning. So if you run a cleaning cycle of the blankets with Rug Wash, then run another cycle right after (no drying needed in between cycles) with Rug Proof.

Hope that helps! - Brennon
