What kids hear:<\/strong> Take your sister\u2019s gnarly old slicker. You\u2019ll never have anything nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Positive spin:<\/strong> Restore the piece with some Nikwax gear rehab (we suggest Tech Wash and waterproofing), and then customize it somehow. Sew a sweet patch on it. Positive spin:<\/strong> If you want a puppy, you\u2019re going to have to show me that you can take care of the things you already have. Specifically, please show me that you know how to use the washing machine and how to read your clothing tags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
