They&#8217;re not ruined! It&#8217;s just a sign that it&#8217;s time to give them some love. First, clean them with Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel, and if it your shoes or gloves are fairly new, or recently re-waterproofed, the Durable Water Repellency (DWR) will be revitalized just from cleaning. For use on smooth leather only. Do not apply to nubuck or suede. Always clean first using Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel.<\/p>\n<p>1. Rub the wax into clean leather surface, using either the sponge applicator or your fingers, pay-ing special attention to seams.<br \/>\n2. After 2 minutes remove excess with a damp cloth and buff to a shine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Drying:<\/strong> Item will be immediately water-repellent, but for best results allow to dry naturally before use.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Light\/colored leather may darken after treatment. Nikwax waterproofing treatments are highly effective and long lasting, but how long you need to go between waterproofing depends on how much you are using the item and in what conditions.
