We are over the moon to announce that our East Sussex-based Nikwax HQ, with a 109-strong workforce, has been named one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2025! This fantastic accolade is down to an impressive 82% employee engagement score in this year’s prestigious national WorkL survey (“everyone deserves to be happy at work”) – far above the 70% threshold needed for national recognition.
“This outdoor kit protection company, based in Wadhurst, East Sussex, is owned by its 109 employees, each of whom has a stake in the company’s growth and profitability. An enhanced benefits programme promotes health and wellbeing with high levels of annual leave, while hybrid working is offered with a weekly team day in the office. Paid childcare is among the benefits, regular employee surveys are carried out and the firm looks to promote from within where possible.” The Sunday Times
The WorkL survey used by The Sunday Times assessed organisations across six key areas: reward and recognition, instilling pride, information sharing, empowerment, wellbeing, and job satisfaction, and our strong performance reflects a culture that has always put people and values at the heart of its business.
As well as championing ethical business practices at Nikwax, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including profit share, paid childcare, enhanced health plans, hybrid working, and generous annual leave. Our workplace culture is rooted in inclusivity, transparency, and mutual respect, and our many dozens of long-serving employees (known as Partners) are proof of that.
“We’re incredibly proud to receive this recognition. It is a testament to our Partners, who not only make Nikwax a great place to work but also drive our shared commitment to making a real difference – socially, environmentally, and ethically.”
Brian Davidson, Nikwax CEO and Partner of 10 years
“Working at Nikwax has never just been about the job – it’s about being part of something that genuinely cares about people and the planet. Over the decades, I’ve seen the company grow without ever losing its values. Being named one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work feels like a well-earned recognition of the culture we’ve all helped build together.” Sean Carey, Head of Operational Standard & Facilities and Partner of 37 years
Our latest accolade aligns perfectly with our home patch of Wadhurst being named the UK’s best place to live by The Sunday Times in 2023, consolidating the unique appeal of our company and its community. We’re going to be celebrating for some time!
