2. Allterrain95
All Terrain 95 is a 10,000-person-strong outdoor community on Instagram that was started in 2020 by 22-year-old, Kian Patel, as a means for him and his friends to escape the mundanity of lockdown life whilst discovering new places within reach of their homes. In the time since, AT95 has become a growing platform dedicated to supplying outdoors, apparel, footwear and adventure content to its yearning audience of similarly aged people. @allterrain95

An outdoor group that brings men together in a safe space to end the stigma around men’s mental health. Started in 2021 in Telford, with only one attendee on the first walk, it has grown to 30 walks across 16 counties. In 2022, Men Walking and Talking became a Community Interest Corporation and in 2023 became organisational members of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. @menwalkingandtalking

Muslim Hikers began life as an Instagram page to connect and inspire the Muslim community during the pandemic. It organises walks that build confidence and raise awareness of nature’s beauty, with past adventures including ascents of Snowdon, Ben Nevis, and Cadair Idris. Whether you’re new to hiking or an experienced adventurer, this is a group that embraces the outdoors with a dose of faith and camaraderie. @muslim.hikers

Another Hiking Collective was created to unite outdoor enthusiasts in the spirit of adventure and community by leading hikes through the most stunning landscapes, from the rugged mountains of the Lake District to the picturesque valleys of the Dales. Whether you’re drawn to challenging peaks or tranquil paths, adventures in nature with this group will foster lasting connections. @anotherhikingcollective

A community for plus sized people fighting for clothing, gear and representation for plus size bodies in the outdoor movement. From setting up a Facebook group for people to share tips and ask for advice, to organising courses and events, they’ve got big dreams for the next few years, including working with brands to improve the size inclusivity of their outdoor clothing and equipment.@every_body_outdoors

This community-interest group empowers and inspires people of colour in the triathlon sphere by creating a welcoming and supportive environment that champions inclusivity, diversity, and body positivity. The Black Tri Tribe’s activities are, of course, centred around swimming, running and cycling as they encourage people to embrace both the physical and mental challenges of this ultimate adventure sport. @blacktritribe

8. Climb Muz
Siddrah Aslam set up her climbing group with a clear mission in mind: to provide Muslim women, ethnic minority groups, and people of colour with a safe space to explore the world of climbing. It’s a community where women can challenge their fears and defy preconceptions of what it means to be a Muslim woman in the UK today. Whether you’re completely new to climbing or looking to join a like-minded community, ClimbMuz is here to help you grow and reach new heights. @climbmuz_c.i.c

This women’s adventuring community believes that outdoor experiences boost well-being, increase confidence and help protect our planet by fostering better connections to nature. It is an inclusive group providing opportunities, support and funding to make the outdoors more accessible and they’ve taken thousands of women on adventures over the years, from first-time mountain hikes to world-first overseas expeditions. @loveherwilduk

10. Flock Together
Flock Together is a support club combating the underrepresentation of black, brown and other people of colour in nature. A diverse and mixed group, members are in their early twenties andthirties, with many drawn from the creative industries. There are three main purposes to the collective’s existence – to tackle the representation of people of colour in nature, to provide a creative platform for those people, and to give mental health support. @flocktogether.world

11. Walk Wild
Walk Wild are passionate about helping adventure seekers enjoy unique outdoor experiences and bespoke walks near London incorporate some of the best circular and woodland trails available. Longer weekend hiking and wild camping adventures in Wales, the Cotswolds and North Norfolk are unique to Walk Wild and will take you along rugged coastlines or to camp on secluded hilltops. @walkwilduk

Founded in 2021, Opening Up the Outdoors (OUTO) is a not-for-profit initiative that focuses on the continued inclusion, education, and enjoyment of outdoor spaces by people of the global majority. To do this, OUTO is partnering with industry and community leaders, building a more diverse, equitable and anti-racist outdoor community. @openinguptheoutdoors

Outdoor Adventure Girls is an outdoor community providing safe and inclusive environments for women to reconnect with the outdoors and each other, through local meetups, weekend getaways and international trips. This friendly community has 100,000+ members across UK social platforms. @outdooradventuregirlsuk

Founded in 2020, Salty Sea Sisters is a female founded online community, who’s primary purpose is to connect and support women actively seeking adventures in the outdoors. ‘SSS’ want to encourage as many women as possible to swim, surf, hike, mountain bike, skate etc, and share stories of connection and triumph along the way. The aim is to empower women through adventure. @saltyseasisters

15. We Go Outside Too C.I.C Est 2020
Through regular activities, ‘We Go Outside Too’ seeks to build a community that provides opportunities for intergenerational Black community members to engage in walking, nature-based learning, and holistic workshops. Their core aim is to create a safe space and a chance for individuals to explore the natural environment and enhance their health and well-being. @wegooutsidetoo
